Lasic Vision

Candidates for Lasik

• At least 18 years of age with the problem of myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) or astigmatism (in any patients younger than 18 years old who insist to do the Lasik may need a consent form from their parents) donot want depend on all time eyeglasses or contact lens

• Have the stable eyes sight values or change for not over + 0.50 D per year

• Have no eyes disease that impact on the treatment such as keratoconus (weak corneal structure), macular abnormalities, eyes disease that affect sighting such as cataract, glaucoma, etc.

• Pregnant or breast-feeding women and autoimmune diseases such as, SLE are not allowed to do lasik

• stop acne drug such as Roaccutane for at least a month

*** person who can have Lasik treatment shall pass the eyes check up and analyze the cornea in details by the experienced ophthalmologists.

LASIK is a treatment of all types of refractive error problems including nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.

It is scientifically acclaimed procedure whereby the curvature of your cornea is adjusted by excimer laser. At Laser vision, we employ three different lasers for laser eye surgery which are LV Premiere LASIK, LV Optimized LASIK, and LV Platinum LASIK. Which one we select for your LASIK procedure will depend on the individual needs of your eyes.

LV Premeire LASIK

Benefits

  • Clear Vision without Glasses and Contact Lenses
  • Tissue Saving

Laser  Vision International LASIK Center proudly uses the Nidek EC-5000, as LV Premiere LASIK, which is an innovative instrument that is highly regarded by ophthalmologists worldwide due to its accuracy and safety

  • Innovated by the Dynamic Rotating technique and overlapping delivery system for correction of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism that can be layered in the wider area.
  • With the accurate and effective 3-Dimension eye tracker which control the laser effectively.
  • Computer controlling system that gathers all the data and applies the results for proper laser control.

LV Optimized LASIK

Benefits

  • Clear Vision without Glasses or Contact Lenses
  • Corneal Tissue Saving
  • Maintain Natural Shape of Cornea
  • Increased quality of Vision

The process of LASIK surgery has the potential of creating visual aberrations by flattening the shape of a patient’s central cornea. There aberrations can result in decreased quality of vision and night vision problems, such as glare of halos. LV Optimized LASIK provides the best results using a specialized aspheric treatment in order to maintain natural shape of cornea.

LV Platinum LASIK

Benefits

  • Clear Vision without Glasses or Contact Lenses
  • Corneal Tissue Saving
  • A Decreased Risk of Glare and Halo Effect
  • Increase a Chance of Correction High Range Refractive Errors
  • Super Vision

Laser Vision International LASIK Center utilizes NAVEX platform, the customized ablation based on

  • Aspheric Treatment for maintaining the natural shape of the cornea, named as “LV Optimized LASIK”
  • Aspheric treatment combined with NAVEX Wavefront technology for correction of higher order aberrations, named as “LV Platinum LASIK”

Thus, making this the ultimate instrument for LASIK in Thailand

LV Platinum LASIK can measure your eyes’ unique combination of lower and higher order aberrations to create a custom wavefront map. The wavefront map is transferred to the Excimer Laser to design the pattern of unique profile for the treatment. Your cornea is then precisely reshaped using a muti-dimensional beam delivery tracking system and pre-calculated data from the wavefront map.

90% of all aberrations fall into the lower order aberration category or the refractive error called hyperopia, myopia, or astigmatism. The most common means of vision correction is either by wearing glasses or by using contact lenses. For the remaining 10%, the higher order aberration, the problem is uncorrectable with glasses or contact lenses. This is where the advanced technology comes to play and helps to correct problems in the higher order aberration category.

PREOPERATIVE LASIK PREPARATION

There are a few steps that preoperative patients need to complete before LASIK can be done, such as preliminary preoperative examination and an eye evaluation, which will be performed by our refractive surgery specialists.

  • A Good Candidate for LASIK Surgery
  • Preoperative LASIK Preparation
  • Step of LASIK Treatment
  • Post Operative LASIK

A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LASIK SURGERY

  • A person who desires the freedom from wearing glasses and/or contact lenses and dislikes the inconveniences that occur from ones’ dependence on eyewear.
  • All individuals considering LASIK surgery must be at least 18 years old. Young eyes are still in their development stages and are constantly changing, so it is advisable to wait until eyes reach their mature, stable phase. This will assure the most positive, permanent result.
  • An individual free of corneal disease, especially keratoconus or thin cornea, or any disease that will delay the wound healing process.
  • Pregnant woman are not allowed to receive LASIK treatment due to the instability of the bodies hormones.
  • People  who have a complete understanding of the benefit and side effects of the LASIK surgery, and have realistic expectations of the outcomes.

LASIK PREPARATION

Preparation

  • Take the contact lens off before hand (3 days for the soft lens, 7 days for the hard lens.)
  • Take a blood test or bring test results with you when you come in.
  • Please do not wear any perfume or body-spray that contains alcohol because the alcohol mayeffect the laser system.
  • Please make an arrangement to be accompanied because after the surgery, the eye shields need to be used

The LASIK innovative technology procedure takes only 15 minute per eye and the process is:

  • The procedure starts with a topical anesthetic eye drop to anesthetize the cornea, 15-20 minutes prior to the operation. During this period our refractive surgery specialist will explain each step.
  • The patient will then moves and lie down horizontally under the laser. The eye area is then cleansed with an antibiotic solution
  • An eye speculum is put into the eye to remove any worry about blinking.
  • The surgeon applies some suctions to the surface of your eye-you will feel slight sensation of pressure. Then, the superficial cornea is separated into two layers, using a delicate instrument called “microkeratome”; leaving small attaching hinges to facilitate the repositioning (like a door of window with hinge).
  • The flap that is created is then gently lifted. Using the excimer laser to reshape the cornea.
  • For near-sightedness, the central corneal curvature is decreased.
  • For farsightedness, the central corneal curvature is increased.
  • For astigmatism, adjust the corneal curvature to have the light focus on the retina.

You  will hear the laser making a faint clicking sound.

  • After laser surgery is complete, the flap will then be put back without suture and the cornea flap will heal naturally.
  • Following the treatment, antibiotic drops will be placed in your eye and a special protective lens, known as, bandage contact lens, may be inserted.
  • After final cleaning around your eyes, the eye shield will be covered to prevent the patient from accidental contact. This eye shield has a small hole to look through it.
  • As the effect of anesthetic drops begins to wear off, it is possible that you will experience some discomfort or pain, but this is unlikely. You will be given a supply of tablets, eye drops, and instructions and will be free to leave.
  • A post operation checkup will be scheduled for the day after the surgery took place.

POST OPERATIVE LASIK

To avoid complications and to ensure the rapid healing process of the eyes, please comply with the following guidelines.

First day post-operative

  • If there is an excess of tears or discomfort or itching around your eyes, do not take the eye shield off. You should use soft cotton to gently clean around the eye shield
  • Get rest and try to keep both eyes closed. We advise against watching television or reading, since these activities only irritate your treated eye(s). If you cannot sleep, it is suggested to take low dose sleeping pills, which will be provided.
  • Allow the surgeon to remove the bandage lens after surgery – this will occur during your first aftercare visit (in the event that the bandage lens comes out before the visit, no attempt must be made to replace it yourself).

First  week post-operative

  • Instill the antibiotic drops and tear substitution as prescribed.
  • Put on the eye shield at night to avoid accidental contact.
  • Be careful of getting water or dust in your eyes and do not rub your eyes. Please wear protective goggles during contact sports or if there is any risk of debris entering the eye.
  • Avoid make-up, especially at the sensitive area around the eyes.
  • Wear sun glasses outside at all times to alleviate eye irritation and/or a burning sensation in the eyes.

Normally the check-up appointment times would be post operative LASIK 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 month, 6 month, 1 year and 2 year

LV SIGNATURE FEMTOLASIK

LV Signature FemtoLASIKBladeless LASIK The most gentle way to restore sharp vision

If you are looking for the safest, most accurate, most comfortable and best quality laser refractive surgery, LV Signature FemtoLASIK would be the right choice for you.

Laser Vision International LASIK center recommends you a new alternative of refractive surgery “LV Signature FemtoLASIK”. This procedure corrects your vision using a laser from beginning till the end of the surgery. The corneal flap is created by an innovative instrument called “Femtosecond Laser”, which has extremely high frequency and low energy pulses, making the surgery to be completely independent from scalpel. No pain and less discomfort, resulting in the high quality of refractive surgery.

WHAT IS FEMTOSECOND?  A Femtosecond laser is a specialized laser used for eye surgery and other medical and technical applications.

The word “Femtosecond” refers to the units used to measure the duration of each pulse. One Femtosecond is equal to one millionth of one billionth of a second, or one millionth of a nanosecond.

Femtosecond laser offers greater precision and control than a bladed microkeratome when creating a corneal flap. LV Signature LASIK, thereby, reduces the risk of flap complications during conventional LASIK surgery.

Though flap complications from the use of a bladed microkeratome are infrequent, a risk remains for undesired outcomes such as partial flaps (due to the mechanical microkeratome during flap creation, button hole flaps (a too-thin flap with a hole in its center) and free caps (a flap with no hinge to keep it attached to the eye).

These types of flap complications are virtually eliminated when a femtosecond laser is used to create the corneal flap in all-laser LASIK.

Why did Laser Vision choose the Femto LDV CrystalLine?

Laser Vision International LASIK Center was established in 1998; therefore, our professional ophthalmologist team have alot of experience with refractive surgery by LASIK. After doing much research and experiencing Femtosecond laser machine, we are very confident that this Femto LDV CrystalLine, which is use to create the corneal flap, is an advanced technology that is very precise, safe and efficient. This machine is manufactured by Swiss-based Ziemer Group, which has a long and  well established reputation for producing the best qualities in medical devices and equipment and medical supplies for eye treatment.

Femto LDV CrystalLine has also been approved and certified by the Food and Drug Administration of USA (FDA) and is gaining its high popularity among the ophthalmologist throughout the world.

Due to Femto LDV CrystalLIne’s unique hand-held laser delivery system, which is attached to an easily maneuverable articulated arm, patients can be treated on the same bed of Excimer Laser and do not have to be relocated between flap creation and ablation procedures as with other femtosecond Laser.

LV Signature FemtoLASIK
(Ziemer Femto LDV): is a laser beam with the highest speed, comparing to other kinds of Femtosecond Laser (5.000 KHz), which reduces inflammation and corneal swelling.Advantages of the LV Signature FemtoLASIK by Laser Vision

  1. LV Signature FemtoLASIK: The recovery period is considerably short. Patients are usually able to see well within a few hours.
  2. LV Signature FemtoLASIK: Reduces the risk of dry eyes and deteriorated night vision or halos, since the area of the flap created is larger, it provides a larger zone for the ablation.
  3. LV Signature FemtoLASIK: More gentle to the cornea, due to the intensity of the laser beam which is 100-1,000 times lesser than the other kinds of laser, which is better at reducing the risk of inflammation that can occur after the surgery.
  4. LV Signature FemtoLASIK: It uses the high technology suction system known as Amadeus.
  5. LV Signature FemtoLASIK: No pain and less discomfort due to the ultra thin layers of cornea and smoother edges for optimal flap closure.
  6. LV Signature FemtoLASIK: Reduces the risks that might occur from the flap creation with conventional or microkeratome LASIK, since the treatment is controlled by computer and laser in each and every procedure.
  7. LV Signature FemtoLASIK: It is effective in patients who were previously not candidates for laser surgery. This includes patients with extreme myopia or thin corneas. Due to high cutting precision, the surgeon can create thinner and more predictable flaps.
  8. LV Signature FemtoLASIK: Shifting the position of the patients from one place to another is not needed, which is more convenient both for the patients and the surgeon.
  9. LV Siganture FemtoLASIK: is the most precise and safety treatment which has been approved and certified by the Food and Drug Administration of USA (FDA).

PREOPERATIVE LASIK PREPARATION

The preoperative eye examination includes

1. Taking off the contact lens before the preoperative examination for soft contact lenses, the contact lenses need to be taken off 3 days ahead of the day of consultation. For hard contact lenses, the contact lenses need to be taken off 7 days ahead of time.

The reason is that wearing contacts lenses, for a long time, could change the curvature of the cornea, therefore the refraction have changed as well. Not wearing contact lens, for a while, will cause the shape and the curvature of eye to revert back to its natural shape, enabling us to get more precise data of the cornea.

2. It will take 2-3 hours for the LASIK work up and examination for the detail data of the following

  • The corneal curvature and the corneal thickness by Orbscan and Topography
  • The pupil diameter by infrared Pupillometer
  • The refraction by Auto Refractometer
  • Anifest refraction before pupil dilatation with refractionist.
  • Measure Wavefront by OPDScan
  • Dilate the pupil (this will be effecting your vision and light sensitivity)
  • Cycloplegic refraction after the pupil dilatation with refractionist.
  • Work up examination and discuss with our refractive surgeon

3. Due to the blurry vision that results after the dilatation of the eyes, it is recommended that the patient be accompanied by a relative or close friend. Dilation because the eyes to become extremely light sensitive and the patient might not be able to drive a vehicle after dilating the pupil.

4. Bring a pair of sun glasses is recommended.
